Careless guy wastes energy by leaving the window open and the AC on during a heatwave, his roommate tricks him into thinking he broke it: ‘No power connection, no AirCon’

What is wrong with people wasting power in this day and age, when electricity is so expensive?

Seems like not everybody cares much about electricity bills or the well-being of the planet. Otherwise, they would be much more careful with leaving the AC or other non-essential appliances on. You won't unplug the fridge, but you can turn off the TV if you're not watching it; that's what I mean. 

Redditor u/BKehew had a roommate who didn't care much about wasting power. They live in sunny California, where it is hotter than an oven. This roommate would leave the house and the AC on. The other guy would come back home and turn it off, no big deal. But later on, the first roommate started leaving it on while the window was open, and all the heat was getting inside. The poor AC was working overtime to keep up with the blazing hot weather. Redditor had enough and made the roommate think the AC was broken from all the extra work. The wasteful guy eventually moved out, so there's a happy ending. 

Seriously, people, stop wasting energy! It's terrible for your wallet and the planet. It takes less than five seconds to turn off unnecessary devices before leaving the house. You're just being lazy. Besides, it'll make all devices last longer. Or do you all have an unlimited budget for bills and expensive appliances? If that is the case, then be my guest: buy a new AC every summer and a new TV every three months. Otherwise, it's in your best interest to take care of what you already have. 

I know, I know, consumerism is chasing all of us, and it doesn't want to let us go, but we need to set our priorities straight. We don't want to have to spend our vacation money on re-buying everything that breaks down in our houses. So instead, let's just be green and go to the beach to escape the heat!
